BEMIDJI Over the weekend, town “celebrities” braved sub zero temperatures for the Bemidji Jaycees’ annual BRRRmidji Plunge, leaping into the icy waters of Lake Bemidji for an honorable community cause.
For the past month, four famous Bemidjians competed to raise the most in donations for their local charity of choice in preparation for the event.

Many students, teachers and community members voiced their opinions over a proposed measure to shift the four-period day at Bemidji High School to a six-period schedule, which would serve as a cost-saving measure after the district’s failed operating referendum. Students at BHS currently attend four classes per day, with courses switching at the midpoint of the year, so students may take eight different classes in a year. A proposal to shift BHS back to a six-period schedule, which would hold throughout the school year, is currently on the table.
