Troopers with the New York State Police do so much more than arrest criminals. Sometimes they even get arrested themselves. Trooper Tim Murray found out Christian wants to be a police officer when he grows up. So he stopped by for a visit and let the little boy arrest him, handcuffs and all. A very important part of our job is getting to know our community and the members in it, the New York State Police shared. We all dreams of what we want to be when we grow up, but many never follow through on those dreams. Let s hope this is just the first step in Christian s dream to become a police officer. If nothing else, it s a memory he ll have for years to come and there s even pictures to prove it.

Before the Worcester Red Sox first ever game in the brand new Polar Park, the team had a who s who of local and state celebrities out to christen the club s new home. Gov. Charlie Baker and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito threw out ceremonial pitches alongside Red Sox legend Pedro Martinez. Singer-songwriter James Taylor and his son, Henry, sang the national anthem.

Let’s go back to the night of the NHL lottery and the Buffalo Sabres and Arizona Coyotes were awaiting the good news that they won and got the honour of drafting Connor McDavid. Instead, the Oilers, who finished third-last in the standings, got the golden card and the golden boy. Then Sabres general manager Tim Murray didn’t hold back after slipping to the second overall pick. The infamous quote was, “I’m disappointed for our fans.” I’m sure Eichel, who was the consensus No. 2 pick, was thrilled to hear he was a disappointment before he was even selected.

(Elise Amendola/AP) After years of anticipation, the professional baseball season is finally underway in Worcester. But the Opening Day crowd was limited because of the pandemic. The Worcester Red Sox  nicknamed the WooSox christened their new stadium Tuesday after the city lured the team from Pawtucket, R.I. with millions of dollars in aid building a new stadium. However, the state is currently only allowing only sports teams to fill 25% of seats. Tuesday s game drew 2,377 fans to Polar Park, the maximum permitted under restrictions designed to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus.

WORCESTER   A youth summer jobs program aimed at beautifying the city while fostering environmental stewardship and economic and educational pathways  will put 25 young people to work this summer. The Worcester Green Corps will hit city streets and parks this summer as a collaborative effort between the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Central Massachusetts. While this enormous economic development momentum is taking place, there has been a nagging and persistent issue with trash, litter and debris, Tim Murray, CEO and president of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, said during a Monday morning press conference at City Hall announcing the initiative.
