Former Cincinnati Bengals Great Cris Collinsworth Gives His Thoughts on Penei Sewell and Ja Marr Chase Debate - Sports Illustrated Cincinnati Bengals News, Analysis and More

Apr 22, 2021 CINCINNATI Former Bengals players like Anthony Muñoz, Tim McGee and Willie Anderson think Cincinnati should take Oregon offensive lineman Penei Sewell with the fifth pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Others believe that selecting LSU star wide receiver Ja Marr Chase at No. 5 is the way to go.  Former Bengals star receiver Cris Collinsworth weighed in on the debate when he had Joe Burrow on his podcast earlier this week.  I kind of like Ja Marr in this situation because I feel like you got with Tyler (Boyd) and Tee (Higgins), you ve got two guys that can control the middle of the field, Collinsworth told Burrow. If you just had that take the top off kind of guy, you might start being in those games where you have to score 30 points to win.

Where former Bengals players and coaches stand on Team Chase vs. Team Sewell By VonnBellDeathBlow on Apr 16, 2021, 5:24pm EDT + Anthony Munoz, TJ Houshmanzadeh, Willie Anderson, Hue Jackson, Tim McGee - ALL have said take Sewell. 2 Lineman, 2 WRs and one OC/HC - across the board have said it s more important to win at the line of scrimmage than on the perimeter. I would agree with this, obviously. 12 of the 14 playoff teams this year had OL s ranked in the top 16 the league per PFF. Meaning only 2 teams that were below average on the OL made the playoffs. In other words, 6% of NFL teams made the playoffs with having a below average OL. Let that sink in. We were 30th last year - I m not sure Riley Rieff and a 2nd round prospect are going to be able to get us to where we need to be.

As the fourth prominent former Bengals to address this topic, after T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Anthony Muñoz, and Dave Lapham, McGee is of the same mind as his fellow Bengals’ alumni. “If they don’t draft an offensive lineman, they should draft a quarterback because they’re going to need multiple quarterbacks who can shuffle in between Christ hospital. In the Bengals case, it was scary what we were seeing. We were like they’re going to get Joe Burrow hurt, he’s going to get killed. The average and below average fans, a third grader was saying the same thing. Low and behold when he gets hurt, none of u

Apr 13, 2021 The debate over who the Bengals should take with the fifth pick in the 2021 NFL draft has been a hot topic over the past few months. The conversation primarily revolves around two very different prospects. The opinions either teeter towards LSU receiver Ja’Marr Chase or totter to Oregon’s Penei Sewell with very little room in between. Former Bengals wide receiver Tim McGee gave his thoughts in an exclusive sit down with AllBengals. “If they don’t draft an offensive lineman, they should draft a quarterback because they’re going to need multiple quarterbacks who can shuffle in between Christ hospital, McGee said. “In the Bengals case, it was scary what we were seeing. We were like they’re going to get Joe Burrow hurt, he’s going to get killed. The average and below average fans, a third grader was saying the same thing. Low and behold when he gets hurt, none of us are surprised. We are all disappointed and we are pissed because we knew this would ha
