Felder is an advanced Medical Support Assistant in the CVHCS Health Benefits Department’s Centralized Registration section and Warren is an MSA and current acting secretary for the chief of Health Administration Services here. Working alongside clinical staff, Felder and Warren ensure Veterans who are scheduled for the COVID-19 vaccine are accounted for, checked-in on arrival, and in the correct place to receive the lifesaving vaccine. Allen Wier, who taught creative writing at the University of Alabama from 1980 to 1994, was recently announced as sixth recipient of the Truman Capote Prize for Distinguished Work in Literary Non-Fiction or the Short Story.
Wier s published four novels, the 2006 Tehano, 1989 s A Place for Outlaws, 1983 s Departing as Air, and 1978 s Blanco, along with two collections of stories, 1978 s Things About to Disappear, and the 2017 Late Night, Early Morning.
He s recently retired from teaching, after stints at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Carnegie-Mellon University, Florida International University, Longwood College and Hollins College, along with numerous writer-in-residence gigs.

The Republican primary election in Nunda Township pits incumbent Highway Commissioner Mike Lesperance against Eric Dowd, and several trustee seats are contested as well.
Within the primary, two slates have formed: one called Team Nunda, consisting of Lesperance, along with trustee candidates Mark Daniel, Justin Franzke, Karen Tynis and Robert Koidahl. Franzke and Tynis are also incumbents.
The other slate, called For a Better Nunda, includes Dowd, incumbents Rob Parrish and Tim Parrish, and newcomer Johanna Donahue.
