Wamego School Board takes no action following hour long executive session
The USD 320 Wamego Board of Education met early Thursday during a special meeting, which included four executive sessions, lasting up to an hour.
No action was taken afterward. The executive sessions were regarding non-elected personnel matters and were the first time the board has met since Wamego High students staged a walkout last Friday in support of girls basketball coach Brian McIntosh.
Superintendent Tim Winter hasn’t commented on the issue, citing non-elected personnel matters. However, when asked directly, the Manhattan Mercury reports he Winter confirmed McIntosh is still employed as the team’s coach and middle school athletic director.

South Kitsap School District is pumping the brakes on its plan to allow high school students back on campus for in-person education next month.
Superintendent Tim Winter informed school board members Monday that the district is moving forward with its recommendation to welcome back middle schoolers Feb. 8 for two-days-a-week classroom instruction, while high school students will continue with fully-remote learning for now.
South Kitsap returned kindergarten, first- and second-grade students to in-person learning Jan. 11 and did the same for third-, fourth- and five-grade students on Monday.
