A new warning has been issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about COVID-19 variants as local officials confirmed the presence of certain variants in the state for the first time. Officials from the CDC said hospital admissions have increased nationwide and are crediting the spread of variant cases. On Monday, they urged everyone to get a vaccine to help stop the spread.According to officials, COVID-19 cases have increased nationally by about 7%. Symptoms between variants and the original COVID-19 strain can be similar. So, there is no way of self-diagnosing which one someone may have, so detection of a variant can only be done in a lab by conducting gene sequencing on a positive sample.
