Surrey becomes first county in England to provide free period products Surrey County Council has become the first local authority in England to provide free period products. The council has partnered with charity Binti International to provide free products in public spaces across the county in a bid to eradicate period stigma. Tim Oliver, leader of Surrey County Council said: I’m delighted this initiative is launching and it’s something we’re very proud to be a part of. Period products should be available to anybody who needs them, and it’s great that Surrey is leading the way in making this a reality.

Runners return for taster of what normality might look like at pilot 5k

Runners have put their best foot forward for a pilot event on the road to a safe return of mass participation sport amid a “brilliant atmosphere”. The only running event in the Government’s Events Research Programme began on Saturday morning at Kempton Park in Surrey. Runners and spectators taking part in the Reunion 5K will help to provide scientific data on Covid-19 transmission levels, with both socially-distanced and non-socially-distanced runs being trialled. First, 1,000 socially-distanced runners took part in races in the event trial at Kempton Park in Surrey on Saturday. They set off at regular intervals and were watched by a crowd of spectators who had to remain apart.
