It’s been just over a year since a pandemic raged through the world, and now the topic of travel bubbles is being raised again. These bubbles could allow bilateral travel between countries without the need for a quarantine period we say ‘could’ because, so far, none have come to fruition.
Travel bubbles have been a hot topic over the last six months as countries seek a tourism boost. Most notably, Singapore and Hong Kong were set to launch a travel bubble in November 2020, until a sudden spike in Covid-19 cases in Hong Kong scuttled the plan.
But this time, it could be different as vaccines begin to rollout. Singapore is in talks to open its borders to countries with low and controlled number of Covid-19 cases such as Hong Kong and Australia.
