Our children are in crisis. The number of local kids held for 72 hours under the Baker Act a last resort to protect someone from hurting themselves or others to receive mental health treatment because of suicidal or violent thoughts jumped 26% in 1 year.
But there is reason for hope.
In a video produced by the David Lawrence Center, a Naples mental health treatment provider, Adrienne opens up about her daughter Chloe’s battle with depression and cutting.
“About 11 o’ clock at night, I got a call from Chloe’s best friend,” Adrienne said. “She said that Chloe had cut and she was unable to stop the bleeding. She had cut 30-something times on her leg and had gashing wounds.”

One of the biggest fundraisers in town needs your help in what it’s calling a “relief and recovery mission” right now. But this year, the challenge to raise money is just as great as the need.
In 2020, the Naples Children and Education Foundation raised a whopping $20 million in its largest fundraiser: the Naples Winter Wine Festival, known for bringing in bands like Kool and the Gang and extravagant auction items. All the money goes to more than four dozen child-focused local nonprofits.

This year, the Naples Winter Wine Festival is going virtual, with opportunities for both patrons and the public to support the Naples Children & Education Foundation’s mission.
In the past 21 years, patrons helped raise more than $212 million for underserved children in Collier County. This year’s event may be different in format, but there are still plenty of opportunities to give by bidding on a mix of wine-soaked experiences, exclusive offers and dreamy trips to nearby and faraway places.
The NWWF’s televised fundraiser, in this story above, aired on WINK-TV to help you learn more about the organizations who benefit from NCEF and to meet local children whose lives are transformed by your generosity.
Every parent knows how difficult it can be to find afterschool care for your children. But the Naples Children and Education Foundation covers expenses for many families who otherwise could not afford to put their kids somewhere safe when class is not in session. As the Foundation gears up for its biggest fundraiser this weekend, they’re calling on you to help.
