How US Could Outpace Arch-Rival Russia In Ballistic Missile Early Warning System

How US Could Outpace Arch-Rival Russia In Ballistic Missile Early Warning System April 10, 2021 The US Space Force (USSF) is likely to launch its fifth ballistic missile early-warning satellite next month. Arch-rival Russia had launched its fourth satellite with similar capability last year. The geosynchronous satellite, part of the Space-Based Infrared System (SBIRS), has recently been delivered to the USSF base in Florida. By orbiting the Earth in highly elliptical rounds and communicating with stationary ground systems, the SBIRS satellites provide 24/7 infrared surveillance of missile activity throughout the world. The US military claims SBIRS has proved its mettle in the wake of a series of missile attacks by Iran on the US and allied forces in Iraq in January 2020. According to the US Space Force, SBRIRS apparently saved lives by providing a vital warning against more attacks.

IIIT-Delhi on mission to develop method to predict collision from space debris | India News

NEW DELHI: Aiming to develop a method to predict collision from space debris,Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Delhi, has received research funding from the National Super Computing Mission (NSM), implemented by the department of science and technology (DST). The project titled ‘Orbit computation of Resident Space Objects for Space Situational Awareness’ has to be completed in two years. The project will be led by IIIT-Delhi faculty Sanat K Biswas and Arun Balaji Buduru. Elaborating on the project, Biswas said, “There are more than 20,000 man-made objects of more than 10 cm in size floating around in near-earth space that pose collision threats to functional satellites. Predicting collision probability from these space objects is crucial from the national security perspective as well as for the protection of public and private space assets of Indian origin.”

Those people who lost their house didn’t get the money, while TMC men with two-storey houses got the compensation. After some intervention, some people received Rs 5,000 instead of Rs 20,000 as promised by the government,” said Biswas.
