The 10th week of the 2020-21 New Jersey Devils prospect update is here! It’s highlighted by 6 Devils prospects officially being named to rosters for the World Junior Championship. This group includes Dawson Mercer, Patrick Moynihan, Arseni Gritsyuk, Shakir Mukhamadullin, Alexander Holtz, and Jaromir Pytlik. The week’s action also saw Tyce Thompson have a 3 point game for Providence, Artem Shlaine assist for his first point for UConn, and Yegor Sharangovich add 3 assists in KHL action. Let’s take a look at how each prospect performed over the past week.

Although the 31 NHL teams haven’t formally asked their young prospects who have found extra playing time in European leagues to start returning to North America because there’s actually no agreement in place, many of these young players are headed back to North America on the advice of their player agents. In this post, I’ll help Ottawa Senators’ keep up with the movements of the team’s young prospects. Item One: Shane Pinto Is Tearing Up the NCAA
Shane Pinto is the Senators second round (32
nd overall) draft choice from the 2019 NHL Draft; and, so far, he’s made the team look wise for choosing him. In just seven games with the University of North Dakota, Pinto has scored three goals and 10 points to start off his sophomore (second) season.
The group features eight members of the 2020 U.S. National Junior Team, including both goaltenders Spencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) and Dustin Wolf (Gilroy, Calif.), defenseman Cam York (Anaheim, Calif.), and forwards Bobby Brink (Minnetonka, Minn.), Cole Caufield (Stevens Point, Wis.), Arthur Kaliyev (Staten Island, N.Y.), Alex Turcotte (Chicago, Ill.) and Trevor Zegras (Bedford, N.Y.). Knight was also a member of the silver medal-winning 2019 U.S. National Junior Team.
“Our players and staff have done everything we’ve asked of them, all of the safety protocols and considerations, in order to make hockey the focus of our training camp,” said John Vanbiesbrouck, general manager of the 2021 U.S. National Junior Team and also the assistant executive director of hockey operations for USA Hockey. “We had a great week of camp and we have certainly faced adversity, but we believe in these 25 players and we all have the same goal.”
TSN Hockey Reporter Mark Masters reports on the World Junior Hockey Championship. Team Canada practised on Saturday at the Westerner Park Centrium in Red Deer, Alta.
On Team Canada s stacked roster nobody scored more last season than Jack Quinn who potted a whopping 52 goals in 62 games with the Ottawa 67 s. And yet Quinn had never been invited to a Hockey Canada event before the World Junior selection camp. As a result, Team Canada head coach Andre Tourigny felt Quinn was trying too hard to prove himself early on. A little nervous right off the bat not knowing a lot of guys, Quinn admitted, but I think I settled in and got better as the camp went on and got a lot more comfortable with all the boys. It was a good transition and got better each day.

BostonBruins.com - The Bruins will be represented by two prospects at the upcoming IIHF World Junior Championship, as defenseman Roman Bychkov (Russia) and forward Matias Mantykivi (Finland) were named to their respective rosters on Saturday morning, marking the first WJC appearances for both players.
Bychkov, 19, was selected by the Bruins in the fifth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. The 5-foot-11, 183-pound blue liner has four points (goal, three assists) in 21 games for Buran Voronezh of the VHL, Russia s second tier league, this season. Bychkov previously helped Russia to a bronze medal at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in 2019.
