RIVIERA BEACH Turning Riviera Beach s waterfront into a sparkling municipal centerpiece has been a dream and challenge for city officials here for several years.
The first phase, with its blue-roofed, Bahamas-styled event center by the marina, opened in 2016. But it has stood pretty much by itself, set back from a broad, dockside esplanade of brick pavers and coiffed greenery, awaiting the rest of its promised accompaniment a $300 million Marina Village with new apartments, a hotel, garage, restaurants and shops along
with people and activity.
Now, as negotiators and Community Redevelopment Agency staff work behind the scenes, a new challenge has arisen for the City Council members, who sit as the CRA board of directors. A series of Atlanta Journal-Constitution articles from 2015 surfaced in the past two weeks that cast one of the main, tentatively selected developers in an unfavorable light.

The mayor wasnât there but one complainant was.
Former Lowndes County Solicitor, General Richard Shelton, Former Judge Jim Tunison, and Robert Jefferson joined City Attorney, Tim Tanner.
Also, members of some groups the mayor allegedly spoke about on his show were there.

Tearman Spencer is now refusing to sign a revised development agreement between Barrett Lo Visionary Development and the City of Milwaukee.
He’s objecting to an amendment added by Alderman
Robert Bauman, and accepted by Barrett Lo, that would have the development team contribute $100,000 to the anti-displacement fund administered by MKE United, a city partnership with several non-profits. The fund helps fight gentrification by helping residents in the greater downtown area pay their property taxes.
