Police first responded to the 1100 block of Jefferson Street at 9:15 a.m. Thursday after receiving a call. A man was barricaded in an apartment and refusing to communicate with officers. The situation was resolved by 6:30 p.m. Police said officers did not need to use force, and there is no ongoing threat to the neighborhood.

Jul 8, 2021 At approximately 7:47AM this morning, the Mansfield Division of Police responded to 261 East Arch Street after a female called and advised she had just left this residence after a gun was fired. The female caller advised she had a verbal argument with her son, Charles Gandy (B/M/52 years-old), which had led to Mr. Gandy firing a gun outside the home. No one was struck by the bullet. She further stated that her son had mental health issues and may be suffering from PTSD as he had been acting strangely over the past few days. Officers responded to the residence and attempted to contact Mr. Gandy who refused to open the locked door. Officers set up a perimeter around the residence for safety and began to attempt to coax Mr. Gandy from the home using a PA system as well as through phone contact. Several of Mr. Gandy’s relatives were contacted and they, too, made efforts to coax Mr. Gandy from the home to no avail. This went on for several hours, during which time, Mr. Ga
