Morgantown Police have identified 20-year-old Charles Nelson as the West Virginia University student who passed away after falling from an apartment complex in the early morning hours of Friday, May 7.
He was a sophomore engineering student from Pikesville, Maryland. Charlie has a circle of exceptional friends with whom he formed deep relationships, and many cousins with whom he loved spending vacations and summers, His family wrote in an obituary published Tuesday in the Baltimore Sun. Besides celebrating life with his friends and family, Charlie loved riding dirt bikes and ATVs, snowboarding, working on engines, going fast, all things Sebago Lake, and being a WVU Mountaineer - #hornsdownforever.

The pandemic has thrown up a number of challenges for all of us, from being unable to spend time with our friends and family, financial worries and just being out of our usual routine.
Family of Saniyya Dennis
Erie County District Attorney John Flynn provided an update Thursday in the disappearance of SUNY Buffalo State student Saniyya Dennis.

According to Flynn, evidence from April 24 and 25 suggests Dennis “took her own life during the early morning hours of Sunday.” Dennis has not yet been found, but Flynn notified her family Wednesday with law enforcement’s findings.

In the past two years, Tinder has faced a number of controversies concerning safety issues on the dating app. Users have routinely been tricked by catfishers, and in 2019, a backpacker was murdered by someone she met through Tinder.
That s why in 2020, Tinder s parent company Match Group announced it would implement safety measures to address the problems users flagged over the years. Among these features are the Tinder Safety Center, a panic button, and photo verification.
Still, when he returned home, he began to feel the isolation.
âBeing bored is bad for a lot of people,â said Charlie, who is using a pseudonym to protect his identity.
Still, he feels lucky he has been able to continue therapy.
âIt helps a lot to talk to someone,â he said.
A recent survey by ParentsTogether found that 70 percent of children surveyed reported feeling sad, overwhelmed and worried. A little less than half of the parents questioned said their kids have been struggling with mental wellness since the COVID-19 pandemic started.
Dr. Mariam Wahby, a licensed marriage and family therapist who works as an education specialist in Behavioral Health Services with the Memorial Hermann Health System, said the pandemic has had a significant negative impact on the mental health of teens, in large part due to the isolation caused by virtual learning.
