No quality test for imported bitumen! Staff Correspondent 17th May, 2021 10:42:29 In absence of proper testing of imported bitumen, low-quality bitumen is entering the country and consequently being used in road construction.  It has been learnt that imported bitumen is entering the country without any certification and approval from Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI), Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Bangladesh is mostly dependent on imported bitumen. The country imports 80 per cent of its total bitumen demand while state-owned Eastern Refinery produces the rest 20 per cent. The entire volume of imported bitumen enters the country just only based on the import orders through the Customs.

Mum s junction petition forces busy crossroads alterations

A MUM who campaigned to change the traffic calming measures at a busy crossroads after her son was hit by a car is ‘delighted’ after Wirral Council agreed to work on implementing changes. Kelly Newell’s youngest son Thomas Willemsen was knocked down by a vehicle that had jumped a red light on his way to school on December 11 last year. And now work has begun by the Highways Department to improve the junction with surfacing patch repairs and refreshing the existing carriageway markings around the junction, before a full feasibility study is undertaken in September that could lead to the installation of pedestrian signals or a countdown diagonal crossing.

No fresh date was fixed to start toll collection on the 55-kilometre expressway. However, it may start when the long-cherished Padma Bridge is open to

Peterborough woman hit by car on dangerous crossing calls for action to improve safety

Submitting. On April 30, another resident reported that their daughter had her foot runover on the crossing after a car failed to stop and hit into the back of another and subsequently over the foot of the pedestrian. Many others have reported witnessing cars failing to stop or travelling at excess speed. Another said that their granddaughter had to run across the road to avoid being hit after a driver overtook two other cars that had stopped to let her cross. Some of the main theories as to why the crossing is so dangerous are that drivers fail to stop because it is so close to a roundabout, the fact that it is not lit very well at night and general carelessness from some drivers.
