Police of the three Commissionerates Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda launched extensive drunk driving checks across the State on the eve of New Year.
Traffic police were deployed not only at junctions, but also at residential areas to curb the movement of tippler drivers and other traffic violators for public safety.
Cyberabad Commissioner of Police V.C. Sajjanar visited at least half a dozen special enforcement checkpoints and briefed the field level officers.

Hyderabad, Dec 31 : The Hyderabad police on Thursday imposed restrictions on New Year celebrations and announced a special drive against drunken driving.
Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda police commissionerates have announced closure of all flyovers and certain roads in the interest of public safety.
The government has granted permission to the Telangana Prohibition and Excise department to allow sale of liquor at retail outlets till midnight.
It has also given permission for liquor to be served in bars, New Year events and in-house parties till 1 a.m.
Hyderabad Vehicular Traffic Restrictions, Route Diversions On New Year s Eve 31 December 2020 Dec 31, 2020, 10:41 IST
In order to facilitate proper control and regulation of traffic in view of the New Year celebrations on the intervening night 31-12-2020/01-01-2021, the following traffic restrictions are imposed for the vehicular traffic around the Hussain Sagar lake.
Vehicular traffic will not be allowed on the NTR Marg, Necklace Road and Upper Tankbund from 2200 hrs to 0200 hrs on the intervening night of 31-12-2020 and 01-01-2021. Public is requested to take the following alternate routes:
1) Vehicular traffic coming from the V.V.Statue towards Necklace Road and NTR Marg will be diverted at the V.V. Statue towards Khairatabad and Rajbhavan Road.
Telangana HC raps state govt over failure to impose night curfew, restrict New Year revelry
The HC directed the state government to strengthen medical infrastructure too and to consider the usage of non-biometric machines at fair price shops to prevent the spread of the virus.
