Sam Breyer is leaving after nearly five years in the top job at the education agency
The board of the Multnomah Education Service District is searching for a new superintendent after Sam Breyer announced he is leaving his job. This will be my last year as superintendent of Multnomah Education Service District, Breyer told the MESD board and stakeholders recently. After nearly 10 years as a superintendent in Multnomah County, I feel called to return to direct service. It s time for me to update my perspective, refresh my skills, and renew my passion with direct service to students and families, he said, calling it a difficult decision.

No one would question that the global coronavirus pandemic has put that proposition to the test on many fronts â not the least of which is on public school systems.
Also, few would argue that changing leadership during a crisis can be a difficult course to navigate, with almost as many potential hazards as benefits.

But that is a course on which the Pottsgrove School Board now finds itself with the public revelation at the last meeting of the year that all three of the district s top leaders will retire in June.
