Recipes Rooted in Family and Community Posted On Centenary United Methodist Church began its ministry in the burgeoning Los Angeles Japanese American community some 125 years ago, and with this legacy comes a treasure trove of deep history resonating with faithfulness, hardships, joys, challenges and tribulations. Centenary’s founding in Little Tokyo is testimony of non-English-speaking Issei pioneers called to establish the church despite extreme hardship and adversity. The upheavals of immigrant life; the years of incarceration throughout World War II; the energy required to re-establish the church in this aftermath; and the forethought and planning of service-focused Nisei who brought the church full circle back to Little Tokyo is the telling of the 125-year history of Centenary United Methodist Church.

Bath Community Clothes Closet to reopen The Leader The Bath Community Clothes Closet, located at Centenary United Methodist Church, 3 W. Washington St. in Bath, will reopen for walk-ins from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 12 and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 29. After that, the closet will be open on the second Monday and fourth Thursday of every month. May dates will be May 10 and May 27. The clothes closet provides clothing free of charge to children residing in Steuben County from birth up to size 14. Masks are required and available if needed, and families will be asked to observe social distancing. Those in need of clothing but who cannot attend on either date can arrange for no-contact pick-up or delivery.
