A Cox s Bazar court today placed four persons on a four-day remand each in connection with a case filed over the recovery of 18 lakh Yaba pills and Tk 70 lakh.
Judge Jerin Sultana of Cox s Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate s Court-4 passed the order in presence of the accused after a hearing today.
The accused are Jahirul Islam, Nurul Alam alias Prakash Babu, Abul Kalam and Sheikh Abdullah, reports our Cox s Bazar correspondent quoting Sheikh Mohammad Ali, investigation officer and also the officer-in-charge of Cox s Bazar DB police.

Anti-Terrorism Unit of Police claimed to have arrested two members of banned militant group Ansar al Islam from Narsingdi and Narayanganj yesterday.
The arrestees are: Hizbullah Mia alias Rasel Ahmed, 22, and Nurul Alam, 23.
A team of ATU first arrested Hizbullah from Narsingdi s Raipura area around 3:15 pm yesterday and based on his information, they later arrested Nurul from Modonpur area in Narayanganj, said Aslam Khan, superintendent (media and awareness) of ATU.
Hizbullah had created a secret group in Telegram, an encrypted messaging app, and added members and admins including Nurul for extremist activities, he said.
Connecticut Eyes Flavored Tobacco Ban

HARTFORD, Conn. Connecticut legislators are considering a full ban on flavored tobacco and electronic cigarette products, including menthol cigarettes, the Hartford Courant reports.
Senate Bill 326 would outlaw the sale of flavored tobacco, vape and electronic nicotine delivery systems. The proposal defines flavor as a “distinguishable taste or aroma,” including any type of “fruit, chocolate, menthol, mint, wintergreen, vanilla, honey, candy, cocoa, dessert, alcoholic beverage, herb or spice.” The taste or aroma of tobacco is not included in the description.
