No appointments have been made in the provincial women development department (WDD) in the past seven years, said Sindh Women Development Minister Syeda Shehla Raza addressing the provincial assembly on Monday.
The department came under scrutiny during the question-answer session in the house, which also raised concerns over the lack of daycare facilities available for working mothers.
The department provides legal and consular access to women across the province, said Raza responding to the queries put forth in the house. Despite a number of vacancies, appointments have not been made, she added.

The Sindh Assembly rejected on Tuesday the results of the controversial medical entry tests conducted by the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) for future doctors and demanded that the federal government direct the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) not to meddle in Sindh’s domain or hold such tests in future.

KARACHI: Sindh Assembly member Firdous Shamim Naqvi tendered his resignation as the Leader of the Opposition in the assembly on Friday.
Speaking to journalists at the ‘media corner’ on the premises of the provincial assembly, he confirmed that he had dispatched his resignation to the prime minister, saying that he would no more hold the office of the Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly.
“I am an ordinary worker of the PTI and will continue to serve the party,” he said adding that the PTI was his first and last political party and he was not joining any other party.

KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly on Wednesday unanimously adopted two clubbed resolutions to condemn the brutal killing of 11 coal miners belonging to Hazara community, asking Prime Minister Imran Khan to visit the sit-in being held by bereaved families in Quetta as per their demand.
One of the resolutions was presented by Pakistan Peoples Party’s Syeda Shehla Raza and the other jointly by Mohammad Hussain Khan of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan and Arsalan Taj of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf. The two resolutions were clubbed as they were identical.

Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazl Pechuho admitted on Tuesday that the province is facing a shortage of healthcare resources and facilities, intensive care units (ICUs) and high-dependency units (ICUs), ambulances and trained staff.
Replying to questions during a Sindh Assembly session, Pechuho said that ventilators reserved for Covid-19 patients are available mostly in Hyderabad and Karachi, and a lack of resources made it difficult to set up ICUs, other than those for housing coronavirus patients, elsewhere in the province.
