Here, we meet three public servants who have worked to build a stronger St. Louis David Blount, a policy expert at the Brown School, Deanna Davise, a defender of children at the School of Law, and Theresa Matheus, a middle school educator at University College.

Early on, David Blount knew he wanted to build strong communities like the one at St. Elizabeth, Mother of John the Baptist Catholic Church in north St. Louis. The church provided housing, operated a food pantry and hosted neighborhood events.

TOLEDO, Ohio The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department is partnering with area school districts to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to students and their families. The FDA recently approved the Pfizer vaccine for emergency use in kids ages 12-15.
Students under 18 will be required to have a signed consent form from a parent or guardian.
The Pfizer vaccine requires two doses. To register for a clinic, click here.
The following districts have scheduled vaccine clinics:
Toledo Public
Start: May 18 and June 8, noon-6 p.m.
Rogers: May 18 and June 8, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Waite: May 19 and June 9, noon-6 p.m.

There have been 1,737 positive cases of the coronavirus among both students and staff within the Killeen Independent School District since March, as of Friday.
At the elementary level, 370 students and 446 staff have tested positive. At KISD middle schools, 219 students and 144 staff have tested positive, and 279 students and 145 staff have tested positive at high schools, according to the district’s COVID-19 dashboard, https://www.killeenisd.org/dashboard.
A total of 128 staff members have tested positive at KISDâs non-campus buildings.
At least two teachers have died from complications with the virus.
There were 20 active cases of the virus â 14 students and six staff members â in the district as of Friday, according to KISD. KISD keeps track of the active cases, by school, on its website.
An African American student in the Killeen Independent School District is more likely to be placed in an alternative disciplinary setting than his Caucasian or Hispanic peers, according to data presented at the districtâs board workshop meeting Tuesday.
During an overview of KISDâs Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP), presented by Deputy Superintendent Eric Penrod, a series of inequitable statistics emerged.
âWhen I look at the data, when I see 34% of our student body is African American, and I see 65% of our DAEP (Disciplinary Alternative Education Program) is African American, that is alarming to me,â Board secretary Brett Williams said Tuesday.
