(Sourced: Facebook) The man accused of murdering Jake Opacic in a hit and run in the Gold Coast hinterland allegedly threatened to kill him and run him off his bike minutes before his death, police documents allege. The 29-year-old, the brother of Paramatta Eels player Tom Opacic, died following the crash involving his motorbike on Friday. Prosecution documents allege Mr Opacic had been involved in a verbal altercation outside the Numinbah Correctional Centre about 10:00am on Friday, shortly before his death.

Police suspect Jakob Opacic died in suspected road rage incident following an alleged argument outside the Numinbah Correctional Centre just after 10am on Friday. Opacic s teammates showed their respect by wearing black armbands in their 13-12 loss to the Panthers, with Opacic playing 80 minutes at right centre. Parramatta coach Brad Arthur confirmed the club urged him not to play but the courageous Eel didn t want to let his teammates down.

The motorcyclist – a 28-year-old man from the Moreton Bay suburb of Bracalba, north of Brisbane – was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
