Gratiot County wind farm now operating with 60 turbines, creating energy to power 58,000 homes

ALMA, MI A new mid-Michigan wind farm owned by Consumers Energy is now online, with enough energy to power the homes of 58,000 residents.
Gratiot Farms Wind Project is operational and contributes 150 megawatts of clean, renewable energy to customers in Michigan, according to officials with Consumers Energy.
“We are excited to have completed construction and bring Gratiot Farms online to serve customers. Each kilowatt we generate from renewable sources such as the wind gets us closer to our Clean Energy Plan goal of a net-zero carbon energy future,” said Dennis Dobbs, vice president of enterprise project management, engineering and services for Consumers Energy. “We are committed to be good neighbors in Gratiot County, where our project is providing substantial local tax revenue and well-paying jobs.”

Jackson-based Consumers Energy announced five new solar projects in Genesee County (Flint area) and three in Saginaw County are now online and providing electricity to Consumers customers.
The sites were built and are operated by North Carolina-based Pine Gate Renewables and are owned by Los Angeles-based Kayne Anderson. Consumers has 20-year agreements to purchase the energy from the projects. Each solar farm has a 2-megawatt capacity.

Bellâs Brewery received the U.S. EPA Energy Star Challenge for Industry Certification as recognition for its sustainability efforts.
Through a series of energy-efficient projects over the last two years, Bellâs reduced its energy per consumed barrel packaged by 10.35%. The brewery shipped almost 500,000 barrels of beer in 2019.
The Energy Star Challenge for Industry is a global call-to-action for industrial sites to reduce their energy intensity by 10% within five years.
