Johnson & Johnson Sunscreen Recall: Products Voluntarily Taken Off Shelves After Traces of Carcinogen found on Neutrogena, Aveeno

Share Photo: (Photo : Scott Olson/Getty Images) A Johnson & Johnson sunscreen recall for five different products from Neutrogena and Aveeno has been voluntarily initiated by the company after traces of carcinogen were found on them. In a statement issued on July 14, Johnson & Johnson advised consumers to stop using all sizes of the Aveeno Protect + Refresh aerosol sunscreen and four Neutrogena sunscreens, Beach Defense aerosol sunscreen, Invisible Daily Defense aerosol sunscreen, CoolDry Sport aerosol sunscreen, and UltraSheer aerosol sunscreen.  These products are widely distributed across the U.S. through various retailers, drugstores, and grocery stores. The healthcare company also said that it would issue refunds for customers who call J&J s Consumer Care Center via 1-800-458-1673.

Neutrogena sunscreen recall The health care giant said in a statement that “use of these products would not be expected to cause adverse health consequences and that it voluntarily decided to recall them out of an abundance of caution.” The statement added that people should use an alternate sunscreen to protect themselves from the skin cancer melanoma. A list of the affected Neutrogenaproducts along with lot numbers and expiration dates are posted on Neutrogena.com and posted on pages two to 23 with Aveeno products on the first page.
