I’ll start off tonight with the announcement by the permanent secretary for Health and Medical Services, Dr James Fong, of 10 new cases of COVID-19. That’s as of 4.35pm today. You can read about this on Page 2. However, by 9.15pm, this number had jumped by another 11 new cases! We now have a staggering 21 cases tonight! You can read about this on www.fijitimes.com

Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor James Fong
Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor James Fong has confirmed this evening that there are 11 new positive COVID-19 cases.
Ten of the new cases are from one household in Kinoya linked to the Extra Supermarket cluster.
He says the eleventh case is a work contact of case 206 from the Samabula cluster, who works for FICAC.
Ten cases were announced earlier today.
Doctor Fong says contact tracing investigations are ongoing and the public should expect to see the Ministry teams on the ground conducting these investigations throughout Suva.

There are 10 new cases of COVID-19 with three infections at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua and one being a Navy officer who is not linked to any of the existing cases as yet.
Nine are contacts of earlier announced cases and were identified through ongoing contact tracing and screening investigations.
Apart from QEB, there are three more persons positive from Muanikoso, Nasinu, which is becoming an area of major concern. The others include one each from Tacirua, Kinoya and Navosai, Narere.

The escalation of COVID-19 in the Central Division has prompted the Ministry of Health to relocate its screening facilities.
Ministry of Health permanent secretary Dr James Fong said screening would be carried out on all contacts and symptomatic cases.
He said screening was now available to anyone wishing to be screened.
The following screening clinics have been set up by the Ministry of Health: Samabula Health Centre has relocated its screening clinic services to Suva Primary school; Nuffield Health Centre has relocated it screening clinic services to Tamavua Primary School;
