Fife jobs boost after milestone decommissioning award

© Supplied by Spirit Energy Limite The 382-metre Pioneering Spirit vessel is coming to Fife. Up to 50 Fife jobs will be created after a major decommissioning win. A Scottish firm has clinched its maiden contract for dismantling offshore platforms at a facility in Methil. CessCon Decom has announced that the decommissioning base at Energy Park Fife (EPF) will welcome exploration and production firm Spirit Energy’s DP3 and DP4 platforms this year. The project is expected to create between 30 and 50 new jobs at EPF, with recruitment to get under way in the coming months. The topside modules for both platforms will be delivered simultaneously by Swiss firm Allseas’ huge Pioneering Spirit heavy lift vessel, which has a capacity of 48,000 tonnes.

Man tagged over stun gun find after cops raided Penilee home

Police Scotland A MAN snared with a stun gun in his family home walked free from court on Tuesday. Steven O’Hanlon, 36, was caught with the ‘black cobra’ device in his wardrobe at his property in Penilee in October 2018. Glasgow Sheriff Court heard officers raided O’Hanlon’s house after a warrant was granted in connection with a drugs allegation. Prosecutor Amy Hunter told the court instead officers recovered the weapon. The hearing was told the device was capable of “audible and visible sparks when activated” and was not to be used as a “self-defence device.” O’Hanlon pleaded guilty to the unlawful possession of the stun gun.
