Black Lives Matter facemasks could be added to Radio 4’s A History of the World in 100 Objects, as the series is updated to reflect how society has shifted over the last decade.
Neil MacGregor’s landmark series ended in 2010 and will be revisited for a one-off programme on Christmas Day.
A number of objects will be discussed as potential additions to the list, each reflecting themes identified as shaping the past 10 years including climate change, migration and the pandemic.
