As renewed rumours of a Black Superman movie swirl, here is the complicated history of reimagining the most iconic comic hero as a Black man. In 2008, during his presidential campaign, Barack Obama told a joke at a charity event. Contrary to the rumours you have heard, I was not born in a manger, he said. I was actually born on Krypton and sent here by my father, Jor-El, to save the planet Earth.

A new weekly sport and social programme is set to kick off in Beccles this week.
The free programme will run weekly as it aims to keep men and women who are over-55 active and connected.
Called ‘Extra Time’, people in Beccles and east Suffolk can benefit from the programme, which is run by Norwich City Football Club’s Community Sports Foundation.
