Elite Series marshal signups start Jan. 5
Tuesday, December 22, 2020
B.A.S.S. announced that marshal registration for the 2021 Bassmaster Elite Series will get under way on Jan. 5. New for the 2021 season, AFTCO will reward marshals with a shirt, hat, sun mask, gift card and other items with a total value of $100, plus a 20 percent off coupon for future purchases.
The marshal program, created by B.A.S.S. in 2009 as a way to attract observers who would ride along with the pros, allows people to spend two to three days on the water with professional anglers. Marshals are not allowed to fish, but they are encouraged to take photos, send blog posts to Bassmaster.com and serve as an extra set of eyes for B.A.S.S. tournament officials, making sure all rules are observed. Additionally, marshals operate the digital BASSTrakk scoring system that enables fans to follow the action in real time.
Bassmaster Elites to visit Neely Henry Lake
Updated Dec 24, 2020;
North Alabama anglers who would like to see some of their bassing heroes up close won’t have to travel far this spring as the Bassmaster Elite Series visits Neely Henry Lake May 6-9. The event will launch and weigh in at Coosa Landing in downtown Gadsden. It’s the first visit ever from the Elite Tour.
While Neely Henry is traditionally stingy on weights, the challenge will be to break down the pattern on this riverine lake and find enough fish to score consistently throughout the event. As in most lakes of this type, both current and bait schools are likely to be key to success.
During Tuesday s Gadsden City Council meeting, council member Jason Wilson reminded people that the proposed Pilgrim s Pride rendering plant came from the State of Alabama, which first suggested it for Etowah County s Little Canoe Creek Mega-Site.
Wilson said the story of why the plant didn t go there varied it was too expensive to get water service there, or that the County Commission had considered it and decided it wasn t right for the site. But they were allowed to go through the process, Wilson said, of considering the pros and cons of the project, to visit a plant using the same kind of technology, then make their decision.
