Michigan State Police Trooper Robert Michell on Saturday arranges donations in the back of his patrol vehicle during the Alpena Post’s annual Stuff a Blue Goose drive at WalMart, where police collect non-perishable food, toys, and toiletries to give to the Salvation Army. Alpena-area residents donated 1,135 food items, 557 toys, and 177 hygiene products and winter clothing items on Saturday. The community’s generosity filled the blue police vehicles four times over a seven-hour stretch in the middle of wintry weather. Donations may still be dropped off at the MSP Alpena Post through Friday.
