Nonprofits asking town of Wilton for funding

Read Article WILTON The budget committee convened on Monday, March 29, to hear from nonprofit representatives asking the town to incorporate funding into the 2021-2022 budget to support resident services. Tina Chapman from Kennebec Behavioral Health which has not been funded by Wilton in the past, asked for $300. The nonprofit has been serving Franklin County for the past five years with an office at 115 Mt. Blue Circle in Farmington. “For folks who live in Wilton, we’ve served over the last fiscal year, we’ve served 52 people,” Chapman said. “We served them almost 900 times, so those are the number of visits; sometimes they’re units that are then in 15- minute increments and sometimes they’re by the hour.”

Tarmac introduces a fully-recyclable hybrid bag 17 March 2021 Tarmac (CRH Group) has moved to using 50 per cent recycled plastic in its packaging, with the release of new all-weather, fully-recyclable hybrid bag.  Manufacturing facilities in Scotland and Wales are all now in production with the new bag, which offers rip, tear and puncture resistance, as well as providing essential protection against rain and water damage. Other sites currently producing a 30 per cent recycled content bag are due to switch to the latest packaging in the coming months. Tarmac’s new packaging also features clearer recycling labelling and information to encourage customers to ‘empty, rinse, recycle’ and dispose of the packaging responsibly.

Former apprentice becomes new plant manager at Dunbar cement plant

A FORMER apprentice has risen through the ranks to become plant manager at Tarmac’s Dunbar cement plant. Chris Bradbury, who previously worked at Tarmac’s Tunstead plant in Derbyshire, began working in the industry as an apprentice in 1994 and has held many roles at plants in the UK, Nigeria and the Philippines. The 45-year-old is now at the helm of Scotland’s only cement manufacturing site, which employs 140 people and plays an important role in the supply of cement to the construction industry across Scotland. Mr Bradbury, who lives in Dunbar, said: “I am looking forward to leading the team here at Dunbar and continuing to improve how the plant delivers for its customers, employees and the local community.

Submitted photo REGION On Friday, March 12, Tuesday, March 16, and Friday, March 26, Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County (HCC) will distribute food boxes containing fresh produce, meat, dairy products, and a gallon of milk to families throughout Franklin County through the Farmers to Families Food Box program. Farmers to Families is a government sponsored program in which the USDA awards vendors to procure, pack, and deliver combination food boxes to non-profits in states across the country. The opportunity benefits farmers, growers and consumers who have all been impacted financially by COVID-19.
