I write each month because I want more people to know that mental illness is not as much of a rarity as some may think, that it can be treated, and, most of all, I hope to help remove the stigma that surrounds mental illness. The word stigma literally means “a mark of disgrace associated with a particular circumstance, quality, or person.” Why should a person with a mental illness feel disgraced?
