Got extra pads and tampons stuffed in some corner of your bathroom? They ll be put to good use if donated at one local celebration this coming week.
In honor of Women’s History Month, one special group is hosting an International Women’s Day Celebration at Blue Star Arts Complex, complete with a period products drive.
Periods SATX, the local chapter of Periods United a group that works to destigmatize menstrual hygiene and provide period products to shelters will kick off the two-day “The Fire is Femme” at Brick on Sunday from 7 to 10 p.m. and Monday from 6 to 10 p.m.

Artist Roland Rodriguez stands in front of the southern side of the old HemisFair Arena in downtown San Antonio as his giant architectural trompe l’oeil mural, “Victory and Triumph,” goes up. It was installed in early 196 and was chosen through a competitive design process sponsored by Target. The 2020 collection, titled “A Collective Vision,” was created by lauded photographer Kevin G. Saunders. He created in the exhibit of black-and-white portraits in collaboration with DreamVoice President Shokare Nakpodia. The nonprofit DreamVoice facilitates DreamWeek, a weeklong series of events aimed at advancing tolerance, equality and diversity across cultures and communities.
