ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey will incorporate the impacts of climate change and rising seas into all its major policy decisions in the near future, and will seek to share the costs of protecting the state among all levels of government and the private sector.
A report released Thursday bluntly predicted “it will be increasingly difficult for people to live and work in coastal places as sea-level rise inundation increases,” recommending the state incentivize a move away from the riskiest areas.

New Jersey released its first major statement Thursday on how the state should respond to climate change, recommending seismic and sobering changes that include moving population away from flood-prone areas; educating the public about the massive task ahead; redirecting state investment toward resiliency measures, and forging an “all-hands-on-deck” strategy within government.
The long-awaited State of New Jersey Climate Change Resiliency Strategy described 125 actions across six policy areas that it said should be implemented by public and private sectors to help adapt to the higher temperatures, bigger storms, heavier rains and rising seas already affecting the Garden State and set to worsen in coming decades.

Community Bulletin Board: Criterion Sentinel (for April 21)
The Metuchen Arts Council is joining with the Metuchen Human Relations Commission to schedule virtual Community Conversations around the issues highlighted in 2021 Windows of Understanding Public Art Project.
The third in the series will take place at 7:30 p.m. April 21 on the topic of climate change. Artists Lauren Curtis, Maja Opacic and Mickey Waring were commissioned by the Metuchen Arts Council to create art that illuminates the mission of the Edison Greenways Group. Walter Stochel, vice president of the group, will participate in the discussion about their mission and their work to enhance the quality of life in our community.
