Griffin Primary School receives life-changing library

A SCHOOL in Battersea has been chosen by the Children’s Laureate in a push to support English libraries.  Griffin Primary School will become one of the first institutions supported by bestselling author, Cressida Cowell’s, new initiative to reduce educational inequality in young children. ‘Life-changing Libraries’ is Ms Cowell’s flagship project as the Waterstones Children’s Laureate, which seeks to support “a reading for pleasure culture” in six primary schools across the UK. Cressida Cowell has partnered with six schools across England In an open letter today (April 13) the author of the bestselling series, How to Train Your Dragon, asked the government to “help children whose future now lies in the balance”.

Published: 2:58 PM April 13, 2021    Benwick Primary School are one of six schools that will take part in the life-changing libraries initiative headed by Cressida Cowell MBE, Waterstones children s laureate. - Credit: David Bebber A village primary school will aim to boost children’s opportunities and tackle inequality through reading as part of a national project.  Benwick Primary School is one of six schools across the country to take part in the ‘life-changing libraries’ initiative, announced by Waterstones Children’s Laureate, Cressida Cowell MBE.  Clare Talbot, headteacher at Benwick Primary School, said: “We are thrilled to be taking part in such an exciting project for our children and community and looking forward to seeing that ‘wow’ moment when they see the library for the first time and their eyes light up.
