Woman sentenced, pleads guilty to false sex assault claim in Federal investigation

Woman sentenced, pleads guilty to false sex assault claim in Federal investigation Shutterstock A woman who entered a plea of “guilty” to a federal charge that said she had made a false accusation of sexual assault, has been sentenced to a time of incarceration. The 36-year-old woman was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson to 21 months imprisonment. Upon her release, the US Attorney’s office says the woman will serve 36 months of supervised release, and is ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment. The investigation into this case was conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kerry Jacobson.

Federal judge sides with family of Killeen man who died during no-knock

In a recent written opinion, a federal judge sided with the family of a Killeen man who died during a no-knock in 2019, saying that the officers who fired shots should not be able to use “qualified immunity” to be shielded from liability. The officers objected to the judge’s report, saying they should not be held liable for a claim of excessive force because it has not been revealed whose bullet actually struck and killed James “Scottie” Reed. Reed, 40, was killed on Feb. 27, 2019 during a no-knock SWAT raid at his house at 215 W. Hallmark Ave. The family alleges that multiple officers fired shots into the house and that Reed was armed but did not fire his handgun.
