MACOMB COUNTY After emerging from closed session, a case involving a death at the Macomb County Jail is closer to being settled.
At the April 7 Macomb County Board of Commissioners Government Oversight Committee meeting, the commission unanimously approved a motion involving a settlement.
The item will now be forwarded to full board, where a final vote will happen April 29.
The settlement would be for up to $150,000 in a case that centers around a 2017 suicide in the Macomb County Jail. The commission was in close session for about 50 minutes.

MILWAUKEE - A motion filed with the U.S. District Court Eastern District of Wisconsin on Wednesday, March 31 seeks payment from former President Donald Trump and his attorneys for significant costs incurred by Wisconsin taxpayers after the 2020 election.
According to court documents, Gov. Tony Evers is motioning the court to tax Trump and his attorneys roughly $144,000 for costs related to the former president s legal challenges of Wisconsin s election.
Trump and his legal team challenged election results in Wisconsin and other states through the courts, seeking to overturn the election s outcome.

JACKSON, MI – A transgender woman imprisoned at the G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility in Jackson is suing the state prison system after allegedly being raped and sexually violated twice at the all-male facility in early 2020.
The lawsuit, filed March 2 in U.S. District Court Eastern District of Michigan, alleges the Michigan Department of Corrections failed to abide by its own policies leading the plaintiff, identified only as Jane Doe in the lawsuit, to be housed with a convicted murderer and sex offender who raped her within 24 hours of being bunked together.
