Woman sues dead ex-boyfriend who allegedly assaulted, kidnapped her

Silko | Silko & Associates PITTSBURGH – A Western Pennsylvania woman who was allegedly assaulted and kidnapped by her now-deceased ex-boyfriend in September has filed suit against his estate to recover money she lent him. Denise Deltondo of McKees Rocks filed suit in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas on Feb. 12 versus Jill Smith (Executrix of the Estate of Gabriel John Tamilia) of Riverside, Calif. “Prior to Sept. 24, 2020, plaintiff and decedent [Gabriel John Tamilia] had a romantic relationship that plaintiff had terminated. On Sept. 24, 2020, plaintiff and decedent agreed to go out to dinner together at a restaurant. While at the restaurant, plaintiff and decedent got into a verbal altercation. The pair eventually left the restaurant and plaintiff drove decedent back to his house, intending to drop decedent off and return to her home,” the suit says.

Allegheny County takes on 10 drug manufacturers in state court for damages over combating opioid epidemic

Zappala PITTSBURGH – Through an alliance of District Attorney Stephen Zappala and private lawyers, Allegheny County has filed suit against 10 different drug manufacturers, for damages connected to both the companies’ alleged false marketing of opioid drugs and the county’s combating the use and abuse of opioids. Allegheny County filed suit in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas on Feb. 3 versus Allergan, Cephalon, Inc., Teva Pharmaceuticals, Endo, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Johnson & Johnson, AmerisourceBergen Drug Corp., Cardinal Health and McKesson Corp. “Fueled by dangerous prescription opioid drugs, Allegheny County, like many other cities, counties and states across the country, is now engulfed in an opioid epidemic, which has led to a public health and safety crisis of an unprecedented and disastrous nature,” the suit says.

West Penn Hospital sued by patient after med tech caught with secret cameras

Swank PITTSBURGH - An Allegheny County woman is suing Allegheny Health Network, owner and operator of West Penn Hospital, after a nuclear medicine technologist allegedly filmed her undressing for a medical procedure.  According to a complaint filed Feb. 1 in Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, Lori Hadden was a patient at the hospital undergoing treatment for melanoma. In September of 2018, she was at West Penn to undergo an intraoperative sentinel lymph node mapping, which took place in a radiology room with Guy Caley, the technologist.  Hadden allegedly was instructed by Caley to completely undress and put on a hospital gown for the procedure. The patient did as instructed, underwent the procedure, reclothed and left, the suit says.

Judge sends suit against Clairton to Allegheny County s complex litigation center

Ward | University of Pittsburgh PITTSBURGH – A judge has sent to a lawsuit brought by a Clairton municipal service provider and two borough citizens regarding the City of Clairton’s acquisition of the sewer system, to the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas’s Commerce and Complex Litigation Center. Clairton Municipal Authority, James Cerqua and Doug Ozvath first filed suit in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas on Nov. 16 versus The City of Clairton. All parties are based in Clairton. “On Nov. 10, 2020, the City of Clairton, by and through its council and mayor, placed as new business on the meeting’s agenda the consideration of a motion approving Ordinance No. 1957,” the suit said.

Schools defend not hiring man as sub because of 1965 arrest

Cavrich | Andrews & Price PITTSBURGH – Two Pennsylvania school districts argue they were only following state law when they denied a work opportunity to a substitute teacher, who it was learned by the districts had been arrested on one occasion 55 years ago. Anthony Gaglierd of Pittsburgh initially filed suits in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas on Dec. 16 versus Avonworth School District and Northgate School District of Pittsburgh, plus Deer Lakes School District of Cheswick. “In January of 2020, Mr. Gaglierd applied for an available substitute teacher position in the Avonworth School District through the district’s placement agent, Education Staffing Solutions,” the suit stated.
