21 LANSING, Mich. – While the spread of Coronavirus has left an indelible mark on nearly every area of modern life, these currents of change also have brought new opportunities to innovate, problem-solve, and grow. Legal professionals from the Michigan National Guard (MING) and the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) have together done just that by implementing a new program that deepens military adherence to the rule of law and facilitates military support to the prosecution of terrorists.
This engagement is part of the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM)’s Office of Legal Counsel initiative known as Command Advice, Investigations, and Coordination (CAIC, pronounced “cake”). EGLIN AFB Two courts-martial on sexual assault charges involving airmen assigned to Eglin Air Force Base at the time of the alleged offenses are scheduled for the coming weeks at the installation, according to the Air Force Judge Advocate General (AFJAG) online docket.
Proceedings in the case of Ky Larkins, a technical sergeant assigned to the Air Force Test Center at the time of the alleged 2018 incident, are scheduled for Feb. 8, according to the docket.
The court-martial of Andrew Street, a captain with the 524th Special Operations Squadron at Eglin s Duke Field at the time of the alleged incident, is scheduled for March 15, according to the AFJAG website.

Dwindling membership is an issue many veteran organizations are facing statewide and those nestled in Western Maine have not been immune.
Several members of Mundt-Allen American Legion Post 81 in Bethel gathered at the local airport to discuss issues facing the American Legion. A big problem, and one that has plagued organizations nationwide, is building and maintaining membership. Once enjoying more than 100 active members, Post 81 is now at 66. The decline has occurred over 20 years.
