ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court will take up next week the petition of sacked judge of Islamabad High Court Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui challenging the notification of the President terminating his service.
A five-member larger bench headed by Justice Umer Ata Bandial will hear the petition on May 31. Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui had filed an application in the Supreme Court on April 28, requesting for fixing his case at the earliest, as he was going to retire on June 30. He had submitted that since his removal from office he had not been employed for gain, adding that he like millions of other citizens had been guaranteed fundamental rights. Justice Siddiqui had challenged before the apex court the decision of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), recommending his removal from his post for misconduct as well as a notification of the government issued on Oct 11, 2018, terminating his service.

SC to hear IHC judge’s plea on May 31
Justice Siddiqui had moved top court against his removal by the SJC two years ago

The Supreme Court has finally fixed Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui petition’s for hearing against his removal on May 31.
A five-judge larger bench headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial will take up Siddiqui’s petition.
The notice has already been sent to Attorney General for Pakistan for legal assistance in view of Article 211 of constitution wherein it is stated that the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) proceedings could not be challenged in any court of law.

The top court has finally fixed sacked Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui’s petition on May 17 against his removal by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).
A five-judge larger bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial and comprising Sardar Tariq Masood,
Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah will hear the constitutional petition seeking to set aside a report of the SJC and a notification issued by the law ministry on October 11, 2018.
