The Aadhaar scheme was approved by experts and was not open to judicial review as it was a policy decision, the Union government told the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
In a digital era, Aadhaar is the best way to prevent money laundering and deliver subsidies and benefits, the government told the apex court bench which is examining the validity of the scheme. The five-judge bench comprising justices AK Sikri, AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud and Ashok Bhushan is headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud considered the submission of senior advocate Colin Gonsalves that conditions at the camps are unhygienic and filthiest to say the least .

The Supreme Court on Wednesday accepted request of the Centre to present a PowerPoint presentation to explain the technical details to the bench hearing the legal challenge to the Aadhar Law.
The Centre will make the PowerPoint presentation on the Aadhaar Law on Thursday.

Providing big relief to home buyers, the Supreme Court on Wednesday asked realty firm Jaiprakash Associates Ltd (JAL) to deposit Rs.200 crore in two installments by May 10.
