Two pleas out of 20 disposed of as missing citizens appear before court

The Sindh High Court ruled on Wednesday that the police investigation into the recovery of missing persons is flawed. A two-member bench, headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto and comprising Justice Abdul Mobin Lakho, expressed annoyance at the authorities for their failure to recover missing persons and submit reports in this regard despite multiple notices issued by the court.
During the hearing of petitions pertaining to 20 missing persons, the bench was informed by the family of one missing man that his whereabouts have been traced after the passage of five years. The court was informed that the man named Abdur Rehman is detained at Malakand Jail. The family moved the court to direct the authorities to permit a visit and pleaded for his release.

The Sindh High Court sought on Wednesday a detailed report on wheat production and consumption in the province.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar was heading the bench hearing a plea against flour and wheat crisis and smuggling and hoarding of essential items.
“Why don’t you give a written answer despite repeated instructions,” Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar inquired of the food department lawyer.
The court sought the complete details of wheat production and consumption in Sindh, and ordered the food department secretary to submit a report at the next hearing on February 17.

A two-member bench of the Sindh High Court, headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto and comprising Justice Abdul Mobin Lakho, while hearing different pleas in a case pertaining to missing persons sought reports from the federal interior secretary and the defence secretary. The bench directed the Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) to ensure the recovery of missing persons over separate pleas seeking the recovery of missing persons. The bench expressed annoyance at the federal and provincial governments for failing to recover the missing persons.
