On Friday, the Illinois Department of Public Health released its latest numbers heading into the weekend regarding the coronavirus situation in the Land of Lincoln. The report showed that there were 4,449 new cases that pushed the overall total to nearly 1.4 million since the pandemic began in early 2020.
On Monday, the IDPH website showed that the number went past that mark and was at 1,402,763 after 817 new cases from the weekend were reported.
There appears to be a rise in new cases of COVID-19 across the country as the Delta variant becomes a bigger issue, particularly to those who have yet to be vaccinated.
