Man dies after being struck by vehicle on W Loop 281 in Longview

Longview police are investigating a fatal pedestrian vs. vehicle wreck. Credit: CBS19 Published: 4:32 PM CDT April 15, 2021 Updated: 4:32 PM CDT April 15, 2021 A man has died after being struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning in Longview.  According to Longview police, around 3:56 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 3900 block of West Loop 281 in reference to an accident with injuries.   Officers found 47-year-old George Stoker lying on the ground in front of a vehicle. Police say it appeared Stoker had been struck by the vehicle.  Stoker was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.  Officers detained the driver of the vehicle for questioning. However, detectives are still investigating this incident. At this time all parties involved in this case have been identified and interviewed.

According to published reports, authorities believe the 34-year-old man kicked in a door, demanded money and assaulted the victim at a home on 38th Street NW Thursday morning (April 15). Long View Police found the man at a nearby hotel with life threatening injuries after the resident shot him multiple times. According to reports, the shooter did not know it was his grandson breaking in and assaulting him due to the fact that the assailant was wearing a mask. The wounded man was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte and was last reported to be in critical condition. The investigation is continuing.

Grandson Shot by Grandfather While Trying to Rob His Home On 4/16/21 at 10:34 AM EDT A man was shot by his grandfather while trying to rob his home in Long View, North Carolina. Police said the victim had been home alone at a home on 38th Street NW when the masked suspect kicked in the door around 8 a.m. Thursday. The suspect reportedly assaulted the victim and demanded money, but the victim grabbed his gun and shot the suspect, who was later identified as his grandson, multiple times. The grandson, identified by police as 34-year-old Jessie Gibson, fled on foot and was found in a nearby motel, where he had been staying, with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to police. It was at Lowman s Motor Court where Gibson s girlfriend called 911 for help.

Lincolnton Man Arrested on Fugitive Warrant from S.C. James W. Martin Lincolnton Man Arrested on Fugitive Warrant from S.C. April 5, 2021 45-year-old James W. Martin of Davis Road in Lincolnton has been arrested by Long View Police on a felony warrant as a fugitive awaiting extradition to another state. The fugitive warrant is from York County, South Carolina where Martin is wanted for financial identity fraud. Martin was also charged with multiple counts of failure to appear. He reportedly failed to appear in court on charges of driving while license revoked, unsealed wine or liquor in the passenger area, possession of marijuana up to half-an-ounce, an open container violation, driving while impaired, and misdemeanor larceny. In addition, Martin faces one count of assault on a female.
