Honoured to accept the role of Shadow Chancellor.
Our economic recovery must be fair. We must transform lives & back businesses in every part of our country.
Together we can create the secure jobs & strong infrastructure we need.
Everyone deserves a stake in Britain’s future.

Manchester Central MP given the role after incumbent Thangam Debbonaire promoted
Labour leader Keir Starmer has appointed Manchester Central MP Lucy Powell as shadow housing secretary as part of a reshuffle of roles in the wake of last week’s local elections.
Lucy Powell, who has been Manchester Central MP since 2012, comes to the role from a year-long stint as shadow business secretary.
Her appointment comes after the previous shadow housing secretary, Bristol West MP Thangam Debbonaire, was promoted to be shadow leader of the House of Commons in the latest reshuffle.
Media attention has focused on the sacking of deputy leader Angela Rayner as Labour Party chair and national campaign co-ordinator, amid changes in a number of front bench roles.
