UNDP, KMC sign MoU for Karachi s uplift - Newspaper

KARACHI: City Admi­n­i­s­trator Laeeq Ahmed on Monday said that the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Deve­l­o­pment Programme (UNDP) would help uplift parks, infrastructure and environment of the city. “The participation of international development agencies and civil society in the process of development and prosperity of Karachi is welcoming,” the administrator passed these remarks while speaking at the signing of the MoU between the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and the UNDP. He said the KMC became just a second local body after Turkey’s Istanbul municipality that joined hands with the UNDP and termed it a great honour for the citizens of Karachi.

The participation of international development agencies and civil society in the development and prosperity of Karachi is welcoming, Karachi Administrator Laeeq Ahmed said at the signing of the MoU between KMC and UNDP. Administrator Karachi and UNDP Representative Knut Ostby signed the MoU. As per the understanding reached between the two organisations, UNDP will support KMC s Parks and Horticulture Department in its Sustainable Development Programme, especially in the areas of economic growth, urban development, environmental improvement, infrastructure development, solid waste management, health and education.
