Mumbrella Awards 2021 shortlist, Merrick Watts to host the gala event

The shortlist for the 2021 Mumbrella Awards has been announced, with The Monkeys and Special Group among the top nominations.
With 11 nominations, The Monkeys received two nods in the Mumbrella Award for Insight, TV Ad of the Year and Social Idea of the Year categories, as well as nominations in Best Use of Real-Time Marketing, Creative Agency of the Year and Ad Campaign of the Year.
Meanwhile, Special Group earned ten nominations across categories including TV Ad of the Year, Content Marketing Strategy of the Year, Social Idea of the Year, Best Use of Real-Time Marketing, and the Mumbrella Awards for Bravery, Insight and Innovation.

$660K to fund wastewater treatment efforts
Two articles will go before voters seeking support for the first phase of the town s wastewater treatment plan. Article 31, if approved, would transfer $300,000 from the Solar Special Revenue Fund to the Wastewater Stabilization Fund.
Through Article 32, the town seeks to use $660,000 in stabilization funds to pay for a preliminary design and survey for the project s first phase.
Voters approved an $82,431,491 budget for the coming fiscal year, which starts July 1.
Town Administrator George Bud Dunham said town officials adopted an approach of “patience, prudence and, most importantly, flexibility in preparing the new budget, which represents about a 3% increase over the current fiscal year.
The conservative budget left out many big-ticket items. There were fears that the state would cut local aid, but that hasn’t materialized, Dunham said.
Voters authorized a commercial ban on single-use plastic water bottles by a 111-77 vote. The ban will go into effect Dec. 31.
Voters at special town meeting in the fall indefinitely postponed the petition article put forth by Sustainable Practices, which was brought back to town meeting Monday.
