Evan Brown has served on the Red Wing City Council for over five years and is currently in his second term. Brown strives to balance all of Red Wingâs needs with the available resources to work towards a more secure, equitable and clean future.
His wife, Laura McDonough, recently passed away in March and Brown has been dealing with his loss while continuing to better the community.
We spoke with him about his work on the council, what he does in his free time, an issue he advocates for and more.

Initiated in 2012, the Sustainability Hero Award program celebrates exemplary individuals and organizations for their dedication, service and leadership in sustainable practices. Nominations for the awards were open to the community, and the winners were selected by members of the Dunwoody Sustainability Committee.
âThe pandemic has encouraged us to better appreciate our natural world and the interdependence of our lives,â said Nathan Sparks, chairman of the Dunwoody Sustainability Committee and operator of a supply chain consulting practice, SEE Sustainable Solutions. âOur heroes provide great examples of how we each may take part in protecting our natural resources and improving our community.â
Palm Springs looking for volunteers to serve on boards, commissions

Volunteers have until May 10 to apply to serve on one of nearly a dozen boards and commissions in Palm Springs, it was announced today.
“We encourage all citizens interested in serving on a board or commission to apply now because the city is immediately looking to recruit for open positions,” City Clerk Anthony Mejia said.
Applicants who are under the age of 18 will be considered, along with those who offer unique skills, experience or knowledge, the city said. Prospective applicants must either live, work or attend school within the city.
