Constance Jones, 57, of Wauchula was killed in the crash.
According to the preliminary investigation, the Sheriff s Office said Constance Jones, 57, was driving a 2007 white Honda Fit east on West County Line Road on the Polk-Hardee county line. As she approached Mosaic s South Fort Meade Mine, a Caterpillar 980M front-end loader with grapple forks, which was being used for construction work by Primoris Company, began to cross the road from the south. The Honda struck the raised forks.
Jones died at the scene. The driver of the front-end loader, 26-year-old Wilson Bembry of Lakeland, was not injuried. West County Line Road was closed in both directions for about four hours for the investigation, which remains ongoing.

A St. Louis woman suffered minor injuries when she ran off the roadway and her car overturned on the lower lanes of Highway 67 in West Alton Sunday afternoon. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 51-year-old Stacy Jones was assisted from her car by passing motorists before emergency crews arrived.
Police say Jones was traveling south on Highway 67 between St. Charles Street and Highway 94 when she lost control of her vehicle, ran off the road, struck a utility pole and her 2007 Toyota Avalon overturned on the side of the road. No one else was in the vehicle at the time according to the report. She was taken away by ambulance for treatment.
