WINNIPEG - Just 10 games into the condensed season, Winnipeg Jets forward Mason Appleton is finding the score sheet at a higher rate than at any point in his early NHL career.
His five points in his team s first 10 outings have him averaging half a point per game, up from 0.17 in his injury shortened 2019-20 campaign, and 0.28 in his rookie season in 2018-19.
He knows there is far more to his job on a nightly basis than putting up points, but as someone who has 99 points in 120 American Hockey League games with the Manitoba Moose, he s more than capable of it.

The Nittany Lions just pulled off the double-digit home upset over Wisconsin on Saturday and make the return trip to Madison with revenge oriented Badgers hungry for washing that loss out of their taste buds.
Penn State out-Wisconsin-ed the Badgers on Saturday. PSU locked down Wisconsin defensively and committed just six turnovers. The score was arguably closer than the performance on the floor.
Wisconsin, meanwhile, is sitting back at 7-4 in the Big Ten at this point and can ill-afford letting Penn State get the sweep in this series. Lucky for them the Nittany Lions seem to fail to show up for road games, sitting at 0-5 on the season thus far in Big Ten action. Only two of those games have even been single-digit losses at that. Even empty of its normal screaming fans, the Kohl Center is not a forgiving venue.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team is set to take on the San José State Spartans in its fifth conference series of the season starting Thursday at 1 p.m. MT in St. George, Utah. The game will be available to watch live, for free, on the Mountain West Network.
Thursday’s game will also be available to follow via Live Stats.
The Lobos (4-8, 0-8 MW) enter Thursday’s game coming off of a near upset over UNLV on Monday. UNM led for 24 minutes and the teams were tied with 5:43 to play before the Runnin’ Rebels ran away with the game.

There’s only one game tonight as Purdue and Indiana renew their rivalry on the court. Tonight’s other game between Michigan State and Iowa has been postponed after two Spartans players tested positive for COVID-19.

Tonight’s lone game will see the Boilermakers travel to a considerably quieter Assembly Hall to face the Hoosiers. The Boilermakers have won seven in a row against Indiana and have not lost to the Hoosiers since 2016.
With both teams sitting at 8-5 (3-3) and having issues with consistency, tonight would be a big win for each team. Purdue fell short on the road against Rutgers and Illinois, but picked up a massive win last weekend when they came back from 17 in the second half to stun a ranked Michigan State.
